Jushhy Living with Chastity
Hey Doll Babies!
If you’ve been following me for any length of time, you already know that styling is my thing! Not only do I love spreading “jushh” wherever I go, I also get great pleasure from seeing a transformation take place in the homes, lives, and style of every person with whom I work. Something happens in our hearts when we let God make us over, and I am humbled and honored to be a part of HIS process. You may be out there reading (or watching) and wondering how YOU can get the “transformation party” started in your life without breaking your bank.
If you are, this week’s video is for you! What I hope you learn from this quick peek at the BIG style I brought to my mother-in-law’s SMALL home in Slater, Missouri is that we all can transform our homes, lives, and wardrobes into something spectacular when we WORK WITH WHAT WE HAVE.
This project was near and dear to my heart because it was “a family affair” and “a dream deferred.” Last year my mother and father-in-law settled into retired life with a dream that their “latter days could be far greater than their former.” The one thing that kept their dream from becoming a reality was their home. It had served them well and was a place where memories were made but, after years of wear and tear, it was no longer a place they wanted to call home. What they truly desired was a fresh start in a new house that would fit their new lifestyle and accommodate sleepovers with all their little grand-nuggets.
Well, friends, as the Bible says, the prayers of the righteous really do make much available! After searching and praying for the perfect retirement home, we found a place that surpassed their wildest dreams! And that’s not all. After locating their dream home, God provided everything we needed to bring amazing BIG STYLE to this SMALL HOME using affordable items and things we already had!
We all agreed that we wanted the new house to be functional, practical, bright, and cheery (let’s just call it “Happy House Style”) and my mother-in-law only had one real request - include the color yellow. Of course, I happily obliged...it doesn't get much happier than the color yellow! Although we were working with a small budget, I assured my in-laws that we didn't have to sacrifice style to save money. Instead, I dug into my bag of "save your coins" styling tips to serve them up BIG STYLE with a SMALL BUDGET to create a home they love and are proud of. In today’s post and video, I’m sharing these tips with you in the hope that you can do the same!
Repurpose What You Have
I always like to tell those on a budget to first shop their house for things they can reimagine, repurpose, and reuse. You never know what you may find in your own home that can be used in a fresh new way! You can also find lots of great treasures from other people’s homes by shopping thrift stores (and don’t forget the clearance racks at all home decor stores). If you need a fresh pair of eyes to look at your things, I'm your girl! That is one of my specialties - making something old into something new. You can click here to find out how I can “jushh” your space quick and in a hurry and get you living and loving your home!
Accessorize With Beautiful Things
You can find unique, expensive-looking pieces everywhere from Target to Goodwill. Check the clearance racks at these stores for pillows, throws, candles, pictures, and home decor that add sparkle, shine, and texture to your rooms. These items are often inexpensive, but add posh accents to any home.
Brighten Up Your Table
Add pops of color to your countertops and shelves such as flowers, books, and glassware in open shelving. You can also “jushh up” your dining room table by adding layers and textures with placemats, napkins, and beautiful tableware that sets the tone for the room.
